What You'll Do
During this intimate lesson with former monk and current chef Doyal Gauranga, you'll learn how everything comes back to food. Doyal explains how food sits at the crossroad of mind and body, and how what we eat is linked to everything from our physique to our outlook on life. The chef then guides you through making your own vegetarian samosas and chutneys, and everyone sits down for a healthy Indian dinner.

Raised in California in a big Italian family, Doyal Guaranga always loved food. But it was as a monk that Doyal began to understand how much diet impacts a person's health—both physically and mentally—as he learned to consciously cook for his brothers at the monastery before traveling the world to vastly expanded his culinary and spiritual education. In the summer of 2013, Doyal decided to transition out of monastic life, but he hasn't given up his teachings: the former monk cofounded a nonprofit organization dedicated to community development, where Doyal can learn from and share his knowledge with others.
