Point Break Live!
New York Magazine calls it “low brow brilliance.” LA Weekly raves that it’s “so hideously over the top, you can’t stop laughing.” And even Gary Busey hails it as “an expression of imagination in the highest form.” Point Break Live! is an outrageous theatrical experience that’s part comedy show, part pool party, and 100% pure adrenaline. Taking every queue from Kathryn Bigelow’s 1991 blockbuster, Point Break Live! follows FBI Special Agent Johnny Utah as he infiltrates the bank-robbing surfer gang known as the “Ex-Presidents”—while fighting his growing admiration for groovy criminal mastermind Bodhi.
In lieu of Keanu Reeves as Johnny Utah, members of the audience get their chance in the spotlight to play the hero. A production assistant/stunt double provides cue cards to steer that night’s Johnny through his epic journey, as he learns to surf, sky dive, and fire his gun aimlessly in the air. Attendees also play the part of the movie’s extras, which entails getting soaked in fake, washable blood as they become bank robbery hostages, and catching some of that Australian hurricane from Bodhi’s final big surf. All ticket-holders receive a Point Break Survival Kit, which includes a poncho and earplugs.
