People often laugh when they’re uncomfortable, which is why many comedians love breaking taboos and many comedy clubs institute strict, hair-shirt-only dress codes. Laugh at your leisure with this GrouponLive deal to EastVille Comedy Club. Choose between the following options:

 • For $12, you get a comedy night for one (up to a $22 value).
 • For $20, you get a comedy night for two (up to a $44 value).

For each person, the comedy night includes: * One general-admission ticket to a Thursday, Friday, or Saturday show (up to a $20 value) * One bag of popcorn (a $2 value)

All shows require a two-drink minimum for each guest, which is not included in this Groupon.

EastVille Comedy Club’s intimate performance space has hosted such modern standup greats as Aziz Ansari, Sarah Silverman, and Louis C.K. On April 27, Janeane Garofalo continues the stage’s tradition of comics with unimpeachable credentials, with a three-decade career that has included roles in The Truth About Cats and Dogs and Wet Hot American Summer and a stint on the cast of Saturday Night Live in addition to a continual string of standup appearances. Her low-key style hooks audiences with stories about her life, gradually building the hilarity with her acerbic take on seemingly everyday anecdotes. Andrew Schulz (May 10–12) leavens raunchy riffs on relationship woes with pop-culture asides.

The 125-seat club’s retro stylings include a tile-backed stage that creates the illusion of watching standup at a subway stop or in the bathroom of an unusually hospitable host. Bartenders pour Blue Moon, martinis, and sodas, among other drinks.
