Elegant Estates of Oak Park Spring House Walk
Designated a local historic district in 1972 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973, the Frank Lloyd Wright–Prairie School of Architecture Historic District is a treasure trove of architectural inspiration. During the Elegant Estates of Oak Park Spring House Walk, six of the historical homes within the district open their doors to flaunt their floor plans. As tour takers wander through all six homes—each built between 1905 and 1924—they admire the visions of design titans such as E. E. Roberts and Frederick Schock. At each home, a guide will be on hand to answer questions and provide context, helping self-guided wanderers notice the vintage glass light fixtures in the 1908 Charles Schwerin House and decipher the architect's signature at the bottom right of each facade. Two of the six homes have also been recently renovated and open their new interiors for the first time during this event.
The Historical Society of Oak Park & River Forest

Just a handful of miles from Chicago, the twin towns boast a distinct style all their own thanks to a rich history captured and preserved by The Historical Society of Oak Park & River Forest. Inside the center—which is equal parts history museum, archive, and research haven—visitors peruse vintage costumes and clothing and pore over old photographs to scour the past.
