During thriller which was made into 1967 Audrey Hepburn film, three criminals seek mysteriously valuable doll in home of blind woman
Live theater tends to be more thrilling than film, largely due to the heightened odds of seeing someone flub a line or deliver a stirring monologue while sitting in your lap. Vicariously live the freewheeling thespian life with today’s GrouponLive deal: for $10, you get one reserved ticket to see Wait Until Dark, presented by Encore! Theatre Arts at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center (up to a $20 value, including a $1 facility fee and a $3 convenience fee for online purchases). Reserved seating is first come, first served, so call ahead to be assigned the best available seat. Choose from the following showtimes:
- Friday, October 14, at 7:30 p.m.
- Saturday, October 15, at 2 p.m.
- Saturday, October 15, at 7:30 p.m.
- Sunday, October 16, at 2 p.m.<p>
Founded by a husband-wife team of actors, nonprofit Encore! Theatre Arts sends soaring show tunes and emotive monologues resounding through the Tulsa community with productions of time-tested family-theater favorites. To kick off the 2011–2012 season, the cast unleashes its spooky side in the classic thriller Wait Until Dark, a Broadway hit remade into a 1967 film starring Audrey Hepburn, Alan Arkin, and a supporting cast of sentient violins. During the play, a trio of con men seeks a mysteriously valuable doll in the home of Susy, a blind woman dexterously played by Encore’s co-founder, Mindy Barker. In the production’s harrowing climax, she shuts off all her lights and attempts to hide from the sinister criminals as they creep about her house, hunting Susy, her doll, and the leftover pie they can smell cooling on the sill. The play manipulates spinal shivers with visceral lighting, spellbinding suspense, and dramatic irony.
Although Encore! Theatre Arts sells $13 tickets for seniors and students (including fees), this deal still offers the best deal available.
