With the Frontier League season swinging into its final month, the Evansville Otters are trying to make this one count. Through late July and early August, the team posted a seven-game winning streak on the back of a stellar pitching staff led by Bryce Morrow. Other team standouts include consistent slugger Steve Marino and lefty pitcher Adam Champion, whose name alone strikes fear into batters' hearts. And if that isn't enough, his 2.55 ERA through 18 games pitched ensures that, like Superman, batters will likely never see home again.

Since 1996, the Otters have produced dozens of MLB signees. Nearly as impressive as the Otters' superstar potential is their home turf, Bosse Field, which opened in 1915 and was used for the filming of A League of Their Own. Fans can settle into this historic landmark and delight their senses with the smell of hot dogs, the sound of bats cracking a home run, and the sight of the zamboni smoothing the pitcher's mound.

Evansville Otters

Since joining the Frontier League in 1996, the Otters have shattered several of the league's records while sending dozens of signees to the MLB. In 2005, the club became the first in the league to record a million total fans in attendance—a vote of confidence that led the Otters, in the the subsequent season, to repay Evansville with its first Frontier League championship. The team passed another milestone in 2012, becoming the first FL team to rack up 700 wins, still a far cry from matching some local 7-year-olds' kickball record of infinity wins. Opened in 1915, the Otters' home turf, Bosse Field, enjoys its own legacy of storied moments, most notably its use during the filming of A League of Their Own.
