First International Young Artist Piano Concerto Competition
On a mission to nurture the musical talents of young artists, the Emilio del Rosario Music Foundation has conducted annual piano competitions since 2010. But this evening’s concert is special: it’s the final round of the organization’s first-ever international contest. During the event, three finalists—selected from a multi-country pool of pianists all under the age of 20—flex their fingers and pull up to the piano that sits on the Chicago Symphony Center’s stage. Backed by The New Millennium Orchestra, each young performer will play a concerto from the competition’s repertoire list. The one deemed the winner by a panel of esteemed judges will be awarded a cash prize, opportunities to play at future concerts, and an approving nod from the ghost of Beethoven.
