Yeah Yeah Yeahs
“Sacrilege”, the opening track of Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ newest album, Mosquito, begins with restraint. Singer Karen O’s distinctive yowl floats breathlessly over a muted bass line, but before long, a kick-drum line careens you straight into the center of a gospel choir, much like walking blindfolded through a church. It’s a reminder that although Yeah Yeah Yeahs have their quieter moments, the art-punk trio never shies away from the dramatic. In fan favorites such as “Heads Will Roll,” “Cheated Hearts,” and “Zero” (a tune Rolling Stone called “a pulsating disco burner” and named one of their top tracks for 2009), the band pairs O’s otherworldly voice with club-friendly beats and hooks that playfully veer off-course. Even when dialing back the adrenaline, surprises are never far away–the plaintive ballad “Maps” creeps along on guitarist Nicholas Zinner’s simple, repeated notes, then jumps into bursts of guttural distortion after O’s mournful chorus.<p>

####Bush Gavin Rossdale and [Bush](http://www.bushofficial.com) open up a razorblade suitcase of ‘90s hits such as “Machinehead” and “Everything Zen,” along with return-to-form grunge tunes from their latest album, 2011's _The Sea of Memories_.
####AWOLNATION Originally intended as a solo project for Aaron Bruno—formerly of Home Town Hero and Under the Influence of Giants—the five-headed electro-pop hydra, AWOLNATION, has become his most popular creation yet. The band throbs, sooths, and startles in hit singles such as “Sail” and “Not Your Fault,” throwing analog attack and digital wizardry into their kitchen sink of influences.

####Silversun Pickups The songs of the Grammy-nominated Silversun Pickups are both stargazing and shoegazing, as dreamy as they are distorted. Big Muff stompers such as “Lazy Eye,” “Well Thought Out Twinkies,” and “Panic Switch” have rained on modern rock radio with storms of fuzz, and their most recent effort, _Neck of the Woods_, adds majestic sound manipulations to the mix.

####Atlas Genius Hailing from South Australia, Atlas Genius first burrowed into ears with their 2011 hit “Trojans.” The indie rock trio offsets their obtuse lyrics with liquid bass grooves and tiny punctuations of synths.
