Miami Marlins Fish ‘N Chips Casino Party
On May 21 at Marlins Park, the Miami Marlins level the playing field—or rather, reshape it from diamond to octagonal form—as players join fans around poker tables for an evening of casino games, cocktails, and entertainment. The Fish ‘N Chips Casino Party gives fans a chance to rub elbows with Marlins players while wearing their spiffiest attire and designer cleats, all to a backdrop of downtown Miami and a soundtrack of music and dancing. Attendees can enjoy hors d’oeuvres and drinks from an open bar while playing poker, craps, blackjack, and roulette. Tickets to that afternoon’s game are not included, though attending could give you a chance to cheer on the team from the stands and later ask if they heard you. Proceeds from the event go to the Marlins’ Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities Program, a youth program designed to promote interest in baseball as well as academic achievement and social responsibility in underserved communities.
The Marlins take the field at Marlins Park: a LEED Gold certified 36,000-seat facility equipped with a retractable roof, fish tanks behind home plate, and a vibrant sculpture in left-center field that kicks into motion for Marlins home runs. Born in 1993, the Florida Marlins quickly established themselves as contenders in the National League, taking home World Series titles in 1997 and 2003. Today, after some light rebranding to go along with the new ballpark, the rechristened Miami Marlins aim to continue traditions new and old, expanding their list of Hall of Famers.
