Fool for Love catapults theatregoers back into America’s fading Old West, landing them directly in the crossfire of a verbal duel between two quarrelling lovers. Penned by Obie Award–winning playwright Sam Shepard, the production plunges into a Mojave Desert motel room, where Eddie and May drag the gaffes of their decaying relationship out into the light. Shadow Theatre co-founder Shaun Johnston, who plays Jack Bartlett on CBC’s television series Heartland, co-stars as a mystifying old man that absorbs the couple’s rapid-fire banter as it reveals the trio’s most binding secrets and the location of the trendiest sushi joint in town.

For more than 20 years, Shadow Theatre has applied its own unique spin on works that mine for resonating emotion in the darkened nooks of human behaviour. The company’s continuing emphasis on showcasing new productions exposes audiences to unfamiliar works from up-and-coming writers, established playwrights, and lighthouse keepers that just want to hear a fellow human laugh.

Very entertaining and thought provoking show. Definitely a good night, and went for a nice drink on Whyte ave after the show.

Don't be deterred by the location being right around the corner from the original theatre location, the production is well worth it!
