What You'll Get
Getting in shape, much like speed-reading Russian literature, requires concentration and the strength to forge ahead through painful, protracted inner monologues. Make headway toward fitness with today’s Groupon: for $15, you get entry into the Dearborn Duathlon on Saturday, August 20 at Levagood Park, conducted by the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center in Dearborn (up to a $35 value).
Ford Community & Performing Arts Center welcomes determined participants to sweat, make their hearts pump, and guzzle bottles of liquid lightning in the Dearborn Duathlon, held in collaboration with the Detroit Medical Center. Participants register between 8:15 and 8:25 a.m. before lining up at the shores of Dunworth Pool to embark on a half-mile swim. Upon return to land, athletes jog, run, or moonwalk three laps around Levagood's paved track, a one-mile circular loop. Participants lap the pool's lanes and the path's bends paired with a designated volunteer to track their time and sing requested montage music. At the end of duathlon, each participant enters their time card into a fishbowl for a panoply of raffle prizes, with awards also given to the first- and second-place finishers of each gender.
Following the race, participants gather to recount challenges and inspirational speeches from pool noodles while enjoying Panera bagels and water. Water bottles are also provided at a central location during the race. In the event of inclement weather or sudden reversals in gravity, the race will be held the following Saturday, August 27.
