Halfway through its ninth championship season, Formula Drift rallies some of the world’s top angular autoists for a day of supersonic sliding. Currently sitting atop the tour’s standings, last year’s second-place finisher, Justin Pawlak, continues his push to clinch the No. 1 spot. Searching for his third first-place finish this season, Pawlak will face off against a talent-packed field of both new and veteran drivers, each of whom will test their ability to steer through tight spaces while maintaining eye-popping speeds atop the track’s infamous butter-slicked pavement.
The first track on the schedule to use the entire racing oval, the Wall Speedway challenges drivers with hairpin turns that demand precise drifting technique. Turns bank at 30 degrees in the corners, pushing cars to blinding speeds, and a 16-degree bank on the straightaways tests competitors’ control and ability to drive on two wheels without spilling their coffee.
