About Fotografiska
Fotografiska New York is a new museum experience for the modern world located in a historic landmark building in midtown's Flatiron District. Founded in Stockholm in 2010 and opened in New York in 2019, Fotografiska is a destination to discover world-class photography, eclectic programming, elevated dining, and surprising new perspectives.
The vibrant atmosphere at Fotografiska is unlike any other New York museum: it is open late every night; there is music playing throughout (nobody needs to be quiet here); and, guests sip drinks from coffee to cocktails inside the museum and exhibition galleries.
Fotografiska is the perfect choice for an authentic, local New York experience. It recently won “Best Hidden Gem in the U.S.” by Tiqets.com and is the 2021-22 Winner of “Best New Culture Destination of the Year in North America” by the Leading Culture Destinations Awards.
Fotografiska is guided by a mission to inspire a more conscious world through the power of photography. The museum produces dynamic and unparalleled rotating exhibitions, spanning various photographic genres, in inclusive and immersive environments.
In addition to museum exhibitions, there are live events frequently in the top floor Loft, unique retail treasures in The Shop, elevated dining in Veronika restaurant, along with cafe drinks and cocktails from the Lobby Bar & Cafe, Bar Veronika, and The Chapel Bar.
Now on view through May:
Hip Hop: Conscious, Unconscious: 2023 marks the 50th anniversary of the most powerful cultural movement of our generation, hip-hop. Together with Mass Appeal, Fotografiska is creating the definitive destination for celebrating hip-hop’s global impact on visual expression – an exhibition and immersive experience bringing together a community of artists that have documented this cultural phenomenon. The exhibition is across two floors and on view through May 2023.
Elizaveta Porodinia: Un/Masked reflects the past few years of Elizaveta’s life and work. Her imagery is surreal, dreamy and intimate, on occasion frightening, haunting and delicate. Tears and water are recurring themes in her images, and she draws inspiration from her childhood in Russia, art, history, film, and religion. Combining the intimate and the uncanny, Elizaveta pursues her subject matter with startling precision, achieving an intensity and freshness.
With locations in Stockholm, New York City, Tallinn, and soon in Berlin, Shanghai and Miami, Fotografiska is the premier global gathering place for photography and culture and one of New York’s newest cultural gems.
