What You'll Do
From the Golden Gate Bridge to Alcatraz, San Francisco boasts many iconic locations, but street photographer Garry Bowden will tell you that the best representation of the city comes from the people who call it home. His walking tour leads you through some of San Francisco's vibrant neighborhoods, as well as Alamo Square park, to give a unique perspective on its culture.
Chinese Tea Ceremony
Tours begin with a Chinese-style tea ceremony at Samovar Tea Lounge.
Neighborhood Walking Tour
Garry introduces you to locals, points out artwork, and takes you to photogenic locals in the Hayes Valley, Haight-Ashbury, and Nopa neighborhoods.
Ongoing Photography Lesson
Throughout the afternoon, Garry answers your photography-related questions and explains tricks for taking the best possible street photos.
Camera in hand, Garry Bowden walks the streets of San Francisco in search of stories—specifically those of the city's many colorful residents. He records those interactions via photo, video, and the written word, sharing the results through his ongoing project Souls of San Francisco. Garry's portraits have been collected in multiple books, and lauded by press outlets including the Huffington Post.
