The Comedy Get Down
With numerous motion picture appearances, television shows, sitcoms, standup specials, radio shows, and books among them, Cedric The Entertainer, Eddie Griffin, D.L. Hughley, and George Lopez have been breaking ground in the comedy business and bringing the laughs for decades. Guests can enjoy an evening of laughs on Saturday, August 18 at 8 p.m. at the Shoreline Amphitheatre.
Cedric the Entertainer
Best known for crowd-pleasing performances in hit films such as Barbershop, Be Cool, The Original Kings of Comedy, and animated adventure franchise Madagascar, and his latest release, Barbershop 3, he is a man of many talents. Currently, viewers can enjoy his work in the comedy series The Soul Man” on TV Land and _Cedric’s Barber Battle on the CW.
Widely known for his dizzying array of comedy specials, movie and television appearances, and comedy albums, Eddie Griffin not only acts, but writes and produces. Most notably, Def Comedy Jam, HBO’s One Night Stand, Malcolm & Eddie for which he won the NAACP Image Award for “Best Actor in a Comedy Series,” Undercover Brother, My Baby’s Daddy, Dysfunktional Family, Norbit, Freedom Of Speech, and You Can Tell Em’ I Said It. Audiences will also soon be able to enjoy Mucho Dinero and An American Hero. In the past, Comedy Central also honored Eddie as one of the top 100 stand-up comedians of all time.
Star of his namesake ABC TV show The Hughleys, he’s also well-known as a performer of the hit comedy tour and docu-film The Original Kings of Comedy. D.L. can be heard nationwide as host of his own nationally-syndicated afternoon radio show “The D.L. Hughley Show.” Known for his astute and savvy comedic style, he is a published author, and was honored with a Peabody Award for his satirical documentary special DL Hughley: The Endangered List. Hughley appeared in the TV drama Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip and will next star in the upcoming NBC drama Heartbreakers. D.L. is currently starring in his ninth stand-up comedy special, Clear.
A multi-talented entertainer whose career encompasses television, film, standup comedy, and late-night shows, Lopez hosted Lopez Tonight for two seasons, a late-night television talk show on TBS. He’s also known for his hit sitcom George Lopez, which ran for six seasons on ABC. He has risen to become one of the most notable comedians in the entertainment industry and is known for his extensive charity work with various foundations.
