Lauded in the press for its bold, inventive style, Red Tape Theatre continues their eighth season by rousing audiences with new and experimental theatrical experiences. This February, The Gingerbread House springs from the pen of playwright Mark Schultz to make its Chicago debut under the direction of 2011 Joseph Jefferson Award winner James D. Palmer. Theatergoers slink to the edge of their seats as unhappily married couple Brian and Stacey chase their dreams down a path rife with suspect decisions, including trading their kids to a mysterious broker and opting against Thin Mints while buying Girl Scout cookies. When Stacey is haunted by the thought of their children’s well-being, she and her husband are forced to choose between their newly reinvigorated marriage and peace of mind. As the onstage drama unfolds, guests bask in the elegant airs of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, where Red Tape continually reinvents its performances and frequently worships the church’s Tony Award-winning organ.
