The Scouting Report
If last season was any indication, the Falcons’ division is open for the taking. And with an offseason infusion of young talent, quarterback Matt Ryan and crew have positioned Atlanta to claim its first divisional crown since 2012. The team shored up its defense, first by hiring Seattle’s defensive coordinator Dan Quinn as head coach, then drafting a cornerback and elite pass rusher in the first two rounds, and maybe later training actual falcons to intercept passes in their talons.
On the other side of the ball, Atlanta may lean on rookie running back Tevin Coleman to round out quarterback Matt Ryan’s passing assault, which last year generated 4,694 yards and 28 touchdowns. This showdown against the defensive-minded Ravens will give fans a final glimpse at the team before the regular season kicks off a week later.
