2014 Grand National Rodeo
For more than 70 years, the best cowboys, cowgirls, and livestock in the Western United States have come together to compete at the Grand National Rodeo. This year, more than 600 competitors from seven different states descend upon Cow Palace to continue the tradition and trade spur-sharpening tips, fixating their lassos on cash prizes as well as the coveted Grand National Champion awards.
Spread across back-to-back weekends in October, the 2014 edition showcases the spirit of the Old West with competitors clashing in classic rodeo challenges. Some fearless riders will attempt to last eight seconds atop bucking bulls, while others dart around the arena while avoiding the deadly steel-cold stare of barrels. With plumes of dust rising skyward from the ring, fans posted up in the dress-circle seats can marvel in amazement before taking a breather to shop at the event’s market place, dance at the saloon, and chow down on award-winning barbecue.
