What You’ll Do
Many people have sipped lattes, but few non-baristas know what makes up their flavor. During a two-hour tasting, coffee educator Greg Loring-Albright sheds light on this subject and more as he takes guests to a series of local cafes, sharing background on a variety of coffee and espresso beverages along the way.
Learn About Coffee
Barista Greg Loring-Albright shares insider knowledge on a variety of topics including types of lattes, the arcana of a traditional espresso menu, the espresso extraction theory, barista workflow, and what to taste for in a cup of coffee.
Taste Coffee and Espresso
Try different varieties of coffee and espresso at a series of local shops. These may include La Colombe, Elixr Coffee, and Square One.
Each guest brings home three handouts: a coffee-tasting tool called the SCAA Flavor Wheel, a coffee basics sheet, and a guide to classic espresso options.
Barista and Coffee Educator
Greg Loring-Albright knows the coffee industry inside and out. Over the years, he’s served as a barista, a marketer, an equipment tech, a sales rep, and more, learning every minute aspect of the business. When he’s not working, he’s still obsessing over his favorite brew, roasting beans in his spare time and competing in latte art contests.
