The Scouting Report
Celebrating 10 seasons in Gwinnett, the Gladiators aim to reclaim their 2011–12 perch atop the ECHL’s South Division. Through 49 games, the team stands just three points out of first place, a gap they hope to close when they face the top-ranked Greenville Road Warriors on March 30. Under the leadership of head coach John Wroblewski—who led the USA Under 18 National Development Team to a gold medal in 2010—the Gladiators take on fellow rivals the Orlando Solar Bears and the Cincinnati Cyclones. Leading the charge is forward Casey Pierro-Zabotel, who ranks among the league’s top 10 in points with 14 goals and 35 assists. Meanwhile, goalie Mike Lee ranks second in the league with 573 saves, only three less than that local firefighter with a cat shelter in his treehouse.
