Hannaford Street Silver Band Presents: Havana Nights
On a Sunday in mid-October, Toronto’s award-winning Hannaford Street Silver Band will heat things up with an afternoon of traditional and modern Cuban music. During the concert, HSSB’s renowned brass players will join forces with a pair of esteemed guests:
- Hilario Durán Trio: Hilario Durán is hailed as one of the greatest Cuban pianists of the 20th Century. He’s earned the nickname “Con Trumbao” for his creative utilization of the trumbao repetitive bass figures, and outside of his stellar piano work, he’s an admired arranger, composer, and musical director.
- Conductor David Briskin: David has been the music director and principal conductor of the National Ballet of Canada since 2006. Today, he’s recognized as one of contemporary ballet’s most-accomplished directors, having earned praise for the range of his repertoire and his brilliant interpretations.
