  • What it is about: 2nd edition Hops and Hogs invites patrons of all ages to celebrate the Labor Weekend and enjoy BBQ Competition Sanction by The Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS) while listening and having one while accomplished artists and bands play their biggest hits.
  • Lineup on Saturday: Aaron Lewis, 10 Years, Finger Eleven, Saving Abel, U-Phonik, Late Night Special, Michael Tracy.
    • Aaron Lewis: Although he’s best known as the leader of the grunge rock band Staind, singer-songwriter Aaron Lewis followed his twangy heart’s desire and became a bona fide country crooner.
    • Finger Eleven: the Juno Award-winning alt-rock act who blend alternative metal, hard rock, and post-grunge on gold- and platinum-certified albums and hit songs, including mega-hit “One Thing”
    • Saving Abel: These Mississippi-based Southern rockers hop genres as they add a touch of alt-metal to tracks such as “Addicted” and “The Sex Is Good.”
  • Lineup on Sunday: 311, Buckcherry, Vertical Horizon, Sister Hazel, The Black Moods, DECARLO, Brett Wiscons.
    • 311: These Omaha genre-benders broke into the mainstream by fusing rap, reggae, and hard rock on their self-titled album in 1995. It went triple platinum thanks to the singles “Don’t Stay Home,” “All Mixed Up,” and “Down,” and paved the way for a decades-long career that’s resulted in 13 records, their own cruise, and an unofficial holiday named after them.
    • Buckcherry: This L.A. hard rock outfit has been tearing up the stage for more than 20 years with big 2000s hits like “Sorry” and “Lit Up.” After releasing their seventh studio album, 2015’s Rock ‘n’Roll , the band changed creative direction and brought on guitarist Kevin Roentgen in 2017 and drummer Francis Ruiz in 2019.
    • Vertical Horizon: The group behind “You’re a God” and “Everything You Want” released their latest album, The Lost Mile, in 2018.
    • Sister Hazel: Since 1993, these Florida road warriors have appeased fans (known as “Hazelnuts”) with their inspirational mix of upbeat acoustic rock and homey Southern harmonies, as heard in their breakout hit “All for You.”
