Seeing music live is a great way to really feel the music, especially when you position yourself directly between the cymbals. Be at the center of it all with this GrouponLive deal to see This Must Be The Band: A Talking Heads Tribute Band at House of Blues Dallas. For $10, you get general admission on Saturday, September 1, at 9 p.m. (up to a $19.33 value, including all fees). Doors open at 8 p.m.

Although the Talking Heads have millions of devoted fans worldwide, very few got to see the group perform in their heyday. After the band disbanded in 1991, the closest fans could get to seeing the Talking Heads live was to watch the concert film Stop Making Sense while sitting millimeters away from the TV. To fill this void and prevent further scolding from mothers, Chicago-based tribute band This Must Be The Band has spent six years in the shoes of David Byrne and company, honing an exhaustive, near-perfect recreation of the Talking Heads’ live experience.

This Must Be The Band’s reputation as a crowd pleaser has led to sold-out shows across the Midwest. Sometimes stretching their sets to four hours, the tireless energy of the band infects audiences and works as a backup generator in case of metropolitan grid failures. Leader Charlie Otto thrives in the daunting role of David Byrne, channeling the famed eccentric’s croons, squawks, and penchant for aerobic interpretive dance, as well as nailing his frenetic guitar style during performances of hits such as “Once in a Lifetime” and “Girlfriend is Better.” Otto’s supporting cast of talented musicians also plays the roles of core Talking Heads members Tina Weymouth, Chris Frantz, and Jerry Harrison with striking sonic resemblance. This Must Be The Band always knocks out favorites that casual fans know, such as “Burning Down the House” and “Psycho Killer,” but it also packs its sets with deep cuts for every hardcore fan who ever named their child “I Zimbra.”

House of Blues Dallas

To keep the spirit of its musical roots ever near, House of Blues Dallas keeps a metal box of mud from the Delta Mississippi beneath its stage. Summoning the spirit and raw grit contained therein, local and national performers enliven the venue’s wood-laden auditorium, lined with art such as Alan Sainte James Boudrot’s A Dream Come True. The historic White Swan building, a remnant of the 1920s coffee-processing plant, hosts this mix of traditional and contemporary, adding its open architecture and thoroughly caffeinated phantoms.
