How I Became a Pirate
Based on the beloved children’s book by Melinda Long, How I Became a Pirate gives kids a musical crash course in some important subjects: pirate manners, parrot care, dental hygiene, and even the value of family. Captain Braid Beard and his gang of tried-and-true pirates recruits Jacob Jeremy after spying him digging in the sand—just the sort of skill that’s needed when you have treasure to bury or retrieve. Soon the boy is learning the ropes with the help of mischievous songs such as “You’ve Got to Talk Like a Pirate,” “Green Teeth,” and “Pirates Don’t Aaargh!” Audiences can expect the same kind of fun, thoroughly family-friendly storytelling that performance company Etico Productions has displayed in its popular adaptations of If You Give a Mouse a Cookie and planetary etiquette manual Good Night Moon.
