With the apocalypse looming, audiences need to laugh now more than ever. That’s the inspiration behind Show X, which declares itself “the improv show at the end of the world.” Each week, performers from local troupes such as Ferrari McSpeedy, Fingergun, Comedysportz, and the Brave New Workshop take the stage for an off-the-cuff set of long-form improvisation.
HUGE Improv Theater
The only thing the artists of HUGE Improv Theater want more than to support the many improv troupes around Minneapolis is to hear their audiences laugh. Voted Best Theater for Comedy in 2011 by Minnesota Monthly, the HUGE Improv Theater buzzes six nights a week with a lineup of diverse shows. On Sunday nights, Improv a Go Go gathers improvisers from all over the city and country, allowing them to experiment with their chosen art form while entertaining the audience. Huge Wednesdays often feature musical acts and touring improv squads, whereas Thursday’s Space Jam beckons burgeoning improvisers to test their imaginative mettle without the emotional support of a laugh track. Friday and Saturday nights offer a double feature at 8 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. which can be purchased as one ticket. Customers also have the option to purchase an additional ticket for the late night show.
