Dave Curran is not your typical stopwatch-clicking, wheel-spinning hypnotist. He's an "entertainer first, hypnotist second," and his raucous shows garner equal amounts guffaws, bewilderment, and blushing. Before discovering his talent for hypnosis, Curran cut his comic teeth as an improviser on the stages of Second City and the Bad Dog Theatre Company. After an epiphany steered him to the world of hypnotism, Dave dedicated his life to the craft and has now been a master of the subconscious for 11 years. From Vegas showrooms to his regular stints on The Edge 102.1's The Dean Blundell Show, Curran earned the nickname The Bad Boy of Hypnosis for his decidedly adult spin on subliminal espionage. He escorts volunteers to the stage and unleashes their inner hellion in wicked spells, such as causing audience members to act like unrestrained dancers, transforming the hypnotic comedy show into a full-fledged bacchanal. Unsurprisingly, the performance is only for ages 19 and older.
Dave & Buster’s
In the late 1970s, a casual pub sat next door to an adult arcade inside the Missouri Pacific Train Station in Little Rock, Arkansas. Though the businesses were completely different, the owners quickly found that they shared a lot in common. Rather than form a rivalry while watching their guests cross from one business to the other, Dave—who owned Slick Willy's World of Entertainment—combined his business with Buster's friendly eatery. Today, through simple innovation and camaraderie, the team has branched out to more than 55 locations across the US and Canada. Inside any of their massive grownup playgrounds, sirens and lights from hundreds of arcade classics and interactive video games swirl around visitors, along with attractions such as miniature golf and laser tag. For patrons who can’t photosynthesize on the gaming glow, they provide a full-service bar and restaurant, whose menu ranges from burgers to other hearty classics such as fish 'n' chips and chicken tenders.
