The young Italian tenor trio Il Volo impresses audiences with pitch-leaping vocal performances rich in three-part harmonies. With a name meaning flight, the charming group of crooners continues to drain fuselages as it soars from city to city, riding the forward momentum of their most recent album release, Más Que Amor. The youthful singers belt out surprisingly mature voices powerful enough to wow Italian TV viewers and earn a standing ovation on American Idol. Performing renditions of classic Italian songs as well as material penned by contemporary songwriters, the teenage opera singers showcase budding international appeal and the promise of a bright future.
Teddy Roosevelt took a bullet in the chest outside the Milwaukee Theatre in 1912, but he was so enamored with the place that he plugged the hole with his thumb and marched back in to give an 80-minute speech. Built in 1909 over the same space where the Milwaukee Industrial Exposition Building once stood, the cultural center has persevered to become one of Wisconsin’s most colossal and elegant theater destinations. The venue sports two-tiered seating with optimal sightlines from each of its 4,086 patrons’ seats.
