What You’ll Do
For renowned Italian painter Giorgio Morandi, it only took a handful colors to create vibrant and rich works of art. During this workshop, guests explore Morandi’s subtle use of paint inside the working studio of professional artist Ilsa Brittain. Ilsa then leads the group step-by-step through painting a re-creation of a Morandi still life.
Intro to Morandi
You’ll learn how the painter earned the reputation as an “artist’s artist” through his subtle, sophisticated use of color.
Paint a Still Life
Artist Ilsa Brittain guides you step-by-step as you paint a re-creation of a Morandi still life.
Ilsa provides everything needed—including paint, brushes, easels, aprons, and a 16”x20” stretched canvas, the latter of which you’ll take home at the end of the class.
Many kids have a dream job in mind, but few are as practical about achieving that goal as Ilsa Brittain. She knew she wanted to be an artist at just 4 years old, the age when she learned how to draw. That led to painting and (many years later) setting up studios in Paris, Moscow, and Kathmandu. The professional artist now has 20 years of experience under her belt, an MFA from the New York Academy of Art, and a mention in the Wild magazine as one of the school’s top graduates in 2014.
