In a playful cross-examination, the curt connoisseur squares off in a frank discussion of kitchen philosophies with Emmy– and James Beard Award–winning chef Ripert. Throughout his career, Ripert has steadily climbed the culinary ladder, leading him to opportunities to co-own three-star Michelin restaurant Le Bernardin, host PBS’ Avec Eric, and appear as a judge on Bravo's Top Chef. Dominating an entire city block, Jones Hall is an impressive structure featuring eight-story columns that bolster a marble façade and a wooden interior. A sea of hexagonal shapes and light bulbs line the ceiling inside, illuminating red-velvet seats and onstage talent. The ceiling can also raise or lower to alter the physical appearance of the room and manipulate acoustics. Built in 1966, the venue is a monument to the memory of Jesse Holman Jones: a man responsible for adding 35 buildings and a Batman signal to the city’s skyline.
