Mayfield Family Foundation, Inc. Presents a Night of Music and Comedy

  • The foundation: Mayfield Family Foundation, a 501c3 not-for-profit that serves the Chicagoland area
  • The headliners: The Isley Brothers, the Grammy-winning R&B act that’s been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Vocal Group Hall of Fame
  • How you know them: from their massive hits “Who’s That Lady,” “This Old Heart of Mine (Is Weak for You),” “It’s Your Thing,” and “Shout,” the last of which was later covered by Otis Day and the Knights in Animal House
  • Who’s joining them: original member Ron Isley and little brother Ernie Isley, a multi-instrumentalist who made the move to full-time band member in 1973
  • Another musical guest: Roy Ayers, a singer, vibraphonist, and keyboardist who was instrumental in the development of the jazz-funk and acid jazz styles
  • Where you’ve heard him: if you haven’t listened to one of his 50+ albums or boogied to “Everybody Loves The Sunshine” and “Searchin,” you’ve probably heard his music on a hip-hop track, as he has had more of his songs sampled than any other artist
  • The comic relief: Guy Torry, who got his start hosting The Kings of Comedy and has appeared in TV shows such as The X-Files and Last Comic Standing and feature films such as American History X, The Animal, and Runaway Jury
