Jack Lemmon Returns
Most know him as the Academy Award–winning legend who starred in Some Like it Hot, The Apartment, The Odd Couple, and Grumpy Old Men, but to Chris, Jack Lemmon was just Dad. In fact, it took the junior Lemmon years to realize that growing up around the likes of Marilyn Monroe and Gregory Peck wasn't the norm for most kids. Now, in a one-man play with music and never-before-seen family photos, the actor and classically-trained pianist inhabits 50 real-life characters to examine his life and the life of his father.
Jack Lemmon Returns was written and directed by esteemed theatrical auteur Hershey Felder, but much of the material springs from shows Chris performed in support of his 2008 book A Twist of Lemmon: A Tribute to My Father. The show's through-line is his portrayal of Jack—a performance that, according to Chris Jones of the Chicago Tribune, is underlined by Chris's startling physical resemblance to his father.
