What You’ll Do
Despite its delicate appearance, glass art is forged in a flurry of flame and muscle. Learn the basics of this unique art during a three-hour, hands-on workshop, during which professional glassblower Jim Loewer will teach you to make your own glass pendant.
Learn the Tools of the Trade
You’ll use a torch and kiln, clear and colored glass rod, and glass-working tools to craft your pendant, complete with a loop for easy hanging or wearing.
Take Your Treasure Home
The finished pendants can be shipped to you or will be available for pick-up the next day after running through a kiln cycle/cooling period.
Jim Loewer initially considered paint his primary medium. But as a casual interest in glass art grew more serious, he swapped his brushes for a kiln and devoted himself to glassblowing full time. Today, Jim’s handcrafted glass housewares can be found in such outlets as Anthropologie, Uncommon Goods, and Barney’s New York, where his bowls were praised by the New York Times for their “eye-popping” impact and their “intense swirling colors.”
