Earth, an alluring enigma, is balanced in the void of space upon two poles over which it sensuously spins and ineffably shimmies. Harness the power of your polarity with today’s Groupon to JMK Entertainment in Pawtucket. Choose between the following options:
For $25, you get two tickets to Valentine’s Burlesque Show (a $50 value). The show takes place on Saturday, February 11, at The House of Mood; doors open at 9:30 p.m., with a 10:30 p.m. show time.<p>
- For $50, you get two tickets to Valentine’s Burlesque Show with dinner at 7 p.m. (a $100 value). The three-course dinner menu includes the following:
- A choice of Rhody Farm salad with golden-sherry vinaigrette or zuppe with linguine and mussels

JMK Entertainment’s sensual starlets engage eager crowds during burlesque performances featuring well-sung cabaret standards, dances sprinkled with eye-catching props, and routines on performance poles. Spectators grab first-come, first-served seating in advance of the 9:30 p.m. show time, filling the House of Mood’s 6,000-square-foot nonprofit art theater with up to 500 guests or six elephant theater critics. Approximately one hour later, the performers take the stage for 60 minutes of belly dancing, vocal performances, and feats of seductive strength. For a sneak peek of what burlesque has to offer, check out a video that compiles the highlights of last year’s performance.
Burlesque evenings can also pull double duty with optional 7 p.m. dinner seatings. While guests explore the venue or try to think up new imaginary friends, chefs from Cresta Bar & Restaurant craft a three-course dinner menu that includes Rhody Farm salad, pancetta-flecked totellini, and cacciatore-style chicken.
Director and founder Jennifer Kennedy has been teaching dance for more than three decades and channels her sensual moves from experience performing in cabarets aboard Virgin Islands cruise ships. At JMK Entertainment, she and her instructors patrol a studio of 10 poles, ensuring that each student receives personalized tips during basic to advanced pole-fitness classes. The pole-based moves help students to build core strength and tone curves while mimicking the arched back of a sexy long-haired wildcat, not to be confused with the long-eared hedgehog, which is really more cute than sexy. Other class styles run the rhythm-powered gamut from cardio chair fitness and Zumba to Bollywood and belly-dancing routines. The JMK team isn't shy about performing what they preach, taking the stage at various local events to showcase their burlesque swaggers and perilous pole-climbs.
