The talented trainees of the Joffrey Academy of Dance show off the discipline, flexibility, and grace of a swan landing a triple lutz as they execute the poetic and dynamic artistry of these award-winning pieces. Alexei Kremnev, one of the Academy’s two artistic directors and a Bolshoi Ballet Academy alum, will also premiere his piece entitled Le Roi s’Amuse: Dances in Ancient Style.
Hailed as “America’s Company of Firsts,” the world-renowned Joffrey Ballet has been blazing an artistic trail since 1956, and has taught successive generations of dancers at the Joffrey Academy of Dance since 2009. Located in the 20,000-square-foot Exelon Education Center, the academy imparts students of all abilities and backgrounds with the grace and discipline needed to join dance companies around the world or withstand a limbo competition in minus-13-degree weather. The academy’s lithesome dancers have garnered a multitude of awards, including top-place finishes at the Youth America Grand Prix, and boast alumni at The Joffrey Ballet, Cincinnati Ballet, and BalletMet.
