Joseph Scott Sappington, born May 3, 1972, is an American musician renowned as the former lead vocalist of the rock band Saliva. Scott co-wrote and performed "Hero" with Chad Kroeger of Nickelback, notably featured in the 2002 film Spider-Man. Before Saliva, Scott led the Memphis heavy metal band BlackBone and has collaborated with artists like Lil Wyte, Three 6 Mafia, and The X-Ecutioners. Beyond music, Scott has had minor roles in television and film, appearing in productions like Wanted and Hustle & Flow. His involvement in the Spider-Man theme song "Hero" earned him recognition, including winning the Best Video from a Film at the MTV Music Video Awards in 2003. In 2019, he announced a reunion with Saliva, and in 2023, he launched Josey Scott's Saliva, performing both Saliva classics and new material.
