The Scouting Report
This Royals team is not one to rest on its laurels. Last September, the club clinched its first playoff berth since 1985, but that wasn’t enough: the Royals then made history by becoming the first team ever to open the postseason with eight straight wins, a dominating run that landed them in the World Series. The team didn’t skip a beat in 2015, winning 12 of its first 16 games and firmly planting itself atop the American League Central. In May, Lorenzo Cain, Salvador Perez, and the rest of the hot-hitting Royals will try to tighten their stranglehold on first place when they square off against the division-rival Detroit Tigers. A few weeks later, they’ll take on Cincinnati during a series that will finally decide which color is best: Royal blue or Ohio red.
