The ComedySportz Theatre ensemble members Erin Pallesen and Pat Dwyer take over the venue’s midnight hour for an seven-week run of their sketch comedy show Kerpatty. Directed by off-Loop veteran and current Second City improv and sketch teacher Jen Ellison, the show stitches together surreal, playful, and highly physical short scenes with video and music. At Chicago SketchFest in January, Dwyer and Pallesen debuted some of their current material, which they’ve honed, revised, and subtly enhanced with tasteful hair extensions. When interviewed by ComedySportz, Dwyer described their show as “sketches [that] sometimes follow very tight beats rather than a set script … it’s good-natured fun and extremely playful. We go for belly laughs.” Kerry Reid of the Chicago Tribune caught the team at an August performance that featured “a blissfully absurd interlude where Dwyer tried to draw a picture in the air with his hands of his allegedly hot new girlfriend’s physique, with dumbfounding results.”
