What You'll Get
Country music harks back to a more courteous era, when kids still called women “ma’am” and men “daddy ma’am.” Tip your hat to the good ol’ days with this deal to see Kix Brooks, Gwen Sebastian, and Matt Stillwell at the Salt Lake County Fair on Thursday, August 9, at 7 p.m. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Choose between the following options:
- For $10, you get general admission for two (a $20 value).
- For $18, you get general admission for four (a $40 value).<p>
Best known as one half of the country duo Brooks & Dunn, whose CDs have sold more than 30 million copies and whose 1992 hit “Boot Scootin’ Boogie” single-handedly revived line dancing, Kix Brooks continues his recently launched solo career at the Salt Lake County Fair. Brooks sports a new mustache and cowboy hat as he plays earnest tunes from his forthcoming album, including the titular single “New to This Town,” a country ballad of regret, lost love, and the struggle of finding a new organic grocer. Opening the fair’s stage for Brooks is Gwen Sebastian, who recently appeared on The Voice with her earthy, mournful intonations, and Matt Stillwell, who shares his eternal love for moonshine with banjo-backed melodies.
