Krush Groove

  • Ice Cube: As a member of N.W.A., Ice Cube changed the entire rap scene of the late ’80s before embarking on a solo career. MTV ranks him #8 in its list of 10 Greatest MCs of All Time, but he’s #1 according to Snoop.
  • Bone Thugs-N-Harmony: The quintet introduced many listeners to their self-described “flip flop flow” with ’90s hits including “East 1999” and “Tha Crossroads”—their Grammy-winning single about death that salutes hip-hop icon Eazy-E. The song is especially poignant since he’s the one who signed them to Ruthless Records.
  • Dipset: a Harlem-based hip-hop consortium fronted by Cam’ron and Jim Jones, this collective has stormed the airwaves with “Dipset Anthem,” “I Really Mean It,” and “S.A.N.T.A.N.A.,” all of which feature heavy bass, horns, and lots of energy.
  • E-40: The rap veteran and founding member of The Click operated underground until the Lil Jon-produced “Tell Me When to Go” brought him to the mainstream.
  • Too Short: As a pioneer of West Coast hip-hop, Too Short influenced the next generation of rappers with hits such as “The Ghetto” and “Blow the Whistle.”
  • Scarface: Also known as Mr. Scarface, Face Mob, or Akshen, this Houston hip-hop fixture rose to fame as a member of the Geto Boys—creators of the immortal “Damn It Feels Good to Be a Gangster”—and is #16 on The Source’s list of Top 50 Lyricists of All Time.
  • Luniz: the Grammy-nominated rappers behind “Stomp” and the international hit “I Got 5 on It” treat fans to new tracks from their 2015 album, Operation Stackola 2.
