What You'll Get
Laughter is the spark of the soul, which is why comedians can light up rooms during a blackout but cannot be left unattended at gas stations. Enjoy crackling wit with today’s deal to see Laugh-A-Palooza, featuring Ted Alexandro, at the Meadow Brook Music Festival on the campus of Oakland University in Rochester Hills on Friday, August 26, at 8 p.m. Choose between the following options:
• For $12, you get one ticket for a reserved seat in the back three-quarters of the pavilion (a $19.50 before fees, or up to a $24.70 value online, including all Ticketmaster fees).
• For $17, you get one VIP/Pit ticket for a reserved seat in the front quarter of the pavilion (a $25 value before fees, or up to a $35.35 value online, including all Ticketmaster fees).
The seventh annual Laugh-A-Palooza unites high-octane motormouths from the Motor City with a slew of globetrotting chuckle salesmen for an evening of richly earned guffaws. Emceed by Master of Ceremonies Nate Fridson, who speaks in italics between parenthetical breaths, this year’s festival showcases headliner and New York funnyman Ted Alexandro. Alexandro shares his winning blend of everyman appeal and subversive wit, strutting skills that have been seen on Comedy Central, Conan O’Brien, and the submarine-mechanic drama, The View. Other sadness assassins on the Laugh-A-Palooza roster include rising Detroit stars Martez Lareece, whose humor has rattled the Florida and New York comedy scene, and Ben Konstantin, who dries off wet blankets with sheets of wit and ADD-influenced anecdotes.
