Helmed by acclaimed conductor Scott Terrell and University of Kentucky violin professor Daniel Mason, The Lexington Philharmonic treats ears to classical masterworks, fun-filled pops concerts, and festive holiday shows during its 50th season. Part of the philharmonic’s Family Series, “Candy Cane Takes a Global Sleigh Ride” fills the concert hall with more holiday cheer than a turkey stuffed with rubber elf ears. The one-hour performance whisks kids and grownups alike to faraway lands as the McTeggart Irish Dancers jig in jingle bells and Cincinnati’s Madcap Puppets share Yuletide stories from around the world. Guests such as the Central Kentucky Youth Orchestra and choirs from Asbury University and Centre College will round out the performance with joyful vocals, magical cello solos, and the angelic whinnies of feral reindeer.
