Seeing one of your favourite bands is a transcendent experience, like seeing your favourite actor play your favourite prime minister. Spoil your senses with this GrouponLive deal to see the Sam Roberts Band and The Jezabels concert at Echo Beach on Thursday, July 26, at 8 p.m. For $28, you get one early-bird general-admission ticket (up to a $37.84 value, including all fees).

With a backdrop of Lake Ontario and the city skyline, Echo Beach ignites its sophomore season with the Sam Roberts Band, who the Montreal Gazette proclaimed “straight-on, loud rock n’ roll at its most crowd-pleasing.” The outfit’s live shows draw from a four-LP-deep discography in energetic performances that led Spinner.com to crown them a Can’t Miss Act. As dusk recedes into twinkling night, the outdoor stage's moody lighting adds atmosphere to early hits such as the folksy “Brother Down” as well as new material from last year’s Collider. Recorded in Chicago with producer Brian Deck, known for his work with Modest Mouse and Iron and Wine, the album marked new terrain for the chart-toppers and multi-Juno winners. Tracks such as “The Last Crusade” brew a soulful atmosphere by interweaving horn-fed funk with the needling guitar of Dave Nugent.

The evening opens with The Jezabels and the charm-heavy, intricately textured indie rock of London foursome Bombay Bicycle Club. Pitchfork granted last year's release, A Different Kind of Fix, a 7.0 rating and a comparison to an Oreo McFlurry for its “soft-serve sweetness” and widespread availability from fast-food drive-thrus.
