Jesters were usually the wisest members of royal courts, due to the extra brains stored in their three-pronged hats. Let a modern jokester share some of his brains with you with today's GrouponLive deal: for $25, you get one general-admission ticket to the Hamptons Comedy Festival’s standup show on Thursday, August 11, at 9 p.m. in Southampton, plus a meet and greet and souvenir photo with the comedians (a $50 value).

The Hamptons Comedy Festival, an extension of the popular Long Island Comedy Festival, showcases some of the area's most accomplished comedians over the course of a 90-minute standup show, which won a thumbs-up from Newsday in 2009. The August 11 show, a fundraiser for Last Chance Animal Rescue, will corral five comedians to garner guffaws with clever anecdotes and giant tickling feathers. In addition to earning raves from critics, festival host Paul Anthony has cracked both jokes at comedy clubs around New York and the C.I.A.'s top-secret comedy codes. Wisecracking Carie Karavas solicits big laughs with her inventive thigh-slappers, and Ireland native Mick Thomas, who has opened for Saturday Night Live alum Norm Macdonald, recounts witty Emerald Isle tales. Master impersonator Chris Distefano and voice talent Tim Krompier will round out the lineup with a rousing Scottish circle dance.

During a postshow meet and greet, Groupon wielders can fist-bump the comedians as a photographer snaps a commemorative picture. Photos will be posted to the fest's website after the show, and guests can bring their own cameras to snap additional shots for friends, relatives, and neighborhood jesters yearning for a glimpse of the world outside their cage.
