The Scouting Report
In their first game of the 2014 season, the Madison Blaze made it clear that future opponents should be prepared for a heavyweight fight. They set that tone during a 7–6 road victory over the Iowa Crush, a defensive war that the Blaze won with multiple stops, a few clock-draining offensive drives, and a goal-line stand that kept the Crush out of the endzone on a two-point conversion attempt. The Blaze—the 2013 IWFL Midwest Division champs—will look to continue their run of success on the gridiron as they host the Vixen at Middleton High School, where they'll set the tone by not allowing visitors to sit at the cool kids table.
A competitor in the 31-team Independent Women's Football League, the Madison Blaze is a squad of hard-hitting athletes who guard their home field at Middleton High School. Since its inception, the Blaze—a franchise owned and operated entirely by women—has brought moments of gridiron glory to Madison including last year when they won the 2013 IWFL Midwest Division title.
