After spending years wowing audiences as a co-founder of the avant-garde circus trio The Mums, master illusionist Albie Selznick decided it was time to step out from behind the mask and tell his own "spooky and funny magic-act-with-a-story." Inspired by the loss of his father, he wrote the script for Smoke and Mirrors, the story of a boy who faces his fears in order to become a master illusionist. With the help of a life-sized bunny named Trixie; Houdini’s wife, Bessie; and a projected head referred to as “The Oracle,” Selznick passionately performs this unique fusion of drama and magic. Directed by Wicked Lit veteran Paul Millet, the show also features video designed by artists Jay Lee and Adam Flemming and pre-curtain magic performed in the theatre.
