Make It a Date Nite Burlesque Show
JMK Entertainment’s sensual starlets engage eager crowds during a burlesque performance featuring well-sung cabaret standards, dances sprinkled with eye-catching props, routines on performance poles, and variety acts. Headliner Maple Divine takes the stage, living up to her own declaration that she's "proud to know that I can kick up my heels at the good old age of 57 . . . that's what I call buns of steel." Guest performer Hector displays electric moves in salsa-dance routines and stays after the show to teach the basics of the style to couples. Seating is determined on a first-come, first-served basis inside The House of Mood’s 6,000-square-foot space, which comfortably hosts up to 500 guests or a fraction of one blue whale.
Director and founder Jennifer Kennedy has been teaching dance for more than three decades and channels her sensual moves from experience performing in cabarets aboard Virgin Islands cruise ships. At JMK Entertainment, she and her instructors patrol a studio of 10 poles, ensuring that each student receives personalized tips during basic to advanced pole-fitness classes. The pole-based moves help students to build core strength and tone curves while mimicking the arched back of a sexy long-haired wildcat, not to be confused with the long-eared hedgehog, which is really more cute than sexy. Other class styles run the rhythm-powered gamut from cardio chair fitness and Zumba to Bollywood and belly-dancing routines. The JMK team isn't shy about performing what they preach, taking the stage at various local events to showcase their burlesque swaggers and perilous pole-climbs.
