What You’ll Do

Flexible by definition, paella can incorporate flavors as diverse as the country from which it springs. When a dish is that versatile, there’s really only one thing you can name it after: the pan in which you make it. Chef Manuel Lopez unpacks the history of the pan and Spain’s culinary blank canvas while demonstrating the proper techniques to create a timeless, savory meal.

  • Prep the Ingredients
    After a quick history lesson, Lopez hands out recipe cards, and each student helps to chop, slice, and dice everything needed for the dish.

  • Watch and Learn
    Lopez explains the cooking process step-by-step, giving participants a front-row seat to seeing a master at work.

  • Sit Down to a Feast
    After making a paella large enough to serve all in attendance, the chef passes out portions to each student. Feel free to BYOB, or bring home your serving to enjoy later (to-go containers will be available).
