Mark Chestnutt

Mark Chestnutt performing “Old Flames Have New Names” in Kansas City in 2012

Eschewing excessive glamour and razzmatazz, Mark Chestnutt offers a refreshingly undiluted, no-frills, traditional brand of pure country. A troubadour in the vein of George Jones and Waylon Jennings, Mark writes songs soaked in heartbreak and beer that sound like they’re plucked from a ‘50s honky-tonk jukebox. Ever since his independently released 1988 debut, Doing My Country Thing, the songwriter has amassed a devoted fan base due to his heartland-tugging tunes, incessant touring schedule, and free samples of lemonade. Once the major labels took notice, Mark charted more than thirty singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts. His eight No. 1 singles include gems such as “I’ll Think of Something,” “It Sure is Monday,” and his moving take on “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” from the movie Armageddon. Having come full circle back to his independent roots, Mark has just released a stunning new ode to his wife, entitled “When the Lights Go Out (Tracie’s Song),” and continues to play more than 100 shows a year.
