Big Texas Throwdown
Somebody is leaving the Big Texas Throwdown with the WBA Super World Bantamweight belt. The only question is who it will be. On September 26, champion Anselmo “Chemito” Morena (35-2-1, 12 KO’s) will put his title on the line against top-ranked contender and two-time Olympian Juan Carlos Payano—all while Mike Tyson and a television audience look on.
That evening, Iron Mike himself will be in attendance at Mesquite Arena taking in the event, from his promotion company. Alineup of popular Dallas-Fort Worth area competitors will step into the ring during the leadup to the title bout. The fight card features middle weight contender Charles “The Future” Hatley (23-3-1, 16 KO’s) in the co-main event, as well as former world title challenger Robert Marroquin. Top Mexican featherweight prospect Moises “Chucky” Flores will also make his U.S. debut against a to-be-announced opponent or a life-size rock ‘em sock ‘em robot if nobody steps up to the challenge.
