The Scouting Report
In just its second season, Miami United FC is already looking like one of the National Premier Soccer League’s elite franchises. The team has jumped out to an undefeated start through its first eight contests, thanks in large part to its dynamic offense and a goalie dedicated to keeping balls from wrinkling the delicately ironed net. So far, Miami United has scored the most goals in the league (18) and conceded the second-fewest (8). Having already bested Fort Lauderdale’s Storm FC back on May 10, the club gets another crack at their intrastate rival on July 6 during a showdown that could cement their spot atop the conference standings. That evening, fans can also take part in various festivities at Ted Hendricks Stadium with music, food, games, and giveaways beginning at 5 p.m.
Miami United FC
When charging onto the pitch, Miami United FC does so under this mantra: “Bringing the community together for the love of the game.” The club debuted in the National Premier Soccer League during the 2013 season, and despite its youth, it strives to embody the city’s diversity and melting pot of different cultures. On the field, MUFC competes as part of the Sunshine Conference. But it’s not just men who wear the club’s black and blue uniforms—MUFC has established teams for women and youth soccer players, too, though a club for athletic Golden Retrievers has yet to be hammered out.
